Bringing gold to Pakistan from the UK
Pakistan allows an incoming passenger to bring personal gold jewellery in reasonable, non-commercial quantities under the baggage rules administered by the Federal Board of Revenue. The line that matters is personal use versus commercial quantity: personal jewellery you are wearing or carrying for family use is treated very differently from bullion, coins or repeated identical items.
Personal jewellery versus a commercial quantity
Customs officers assess intent from quantity and form. Worn and used jewellery in ordinary amounts passes as personal effects. Multiples of the same item, unworn pieces still in shop packaging, bars or coins invite assessment as an import, with duty and possible penalties.
Gold bullion is not the same category as jewellery and is not covered by the personal-jewellery treatment. If you intend to carry bars or coins, treat it as a formal import question and get advice before you fly, not at the counter.
Declare rather than argue
If you are carrying anything beyond obviously personal amounts, use the red channel and declare it. Declaring costs you a conversation; not declaring and being found risks seizure.
Carry receipts. Documentation showing purchase in the UK, with weight and karat, is what turns a dispute about value into a short check.
The UK side
The UK does not restrict taking personal jewellery out of the country, and there is no export duty on it. Cash is different: if you are carrying £10,000 or more in cash out of Great Britain you must declare it to HMRC. Jewellery is not cash for that rule, but a large cash-plus-gold combination attracts attention at both ends.
If the jewellery was bought in the UK and you may bring it back, keep the receipt so that returning with it is not treated as an import on your return leg.
Practicalities
Keep gold in hand baggage. Airline liability for valuables in checked luggage is minimal and most travel insurance policies exclude jewellery left in the hold.
Check your travel insurance single-item limit before you fly. Household policies often cap unspecified valuables far below the value of a bridal set.
