On 9 August 2026, the gold rate in Rawalpindi is Rs 459,400 per tola for 24K and Rs 421,100 per tola for 22K, which is Rs 36,106 per gram. Rawalpindi trades in Raja Bazaar and Sarafa Bazaar, Moti Bazaar, and rates are published locally by the Rawalpindi Sarafa Association (following APSGJA). Like every Pakistani city board, Rawalpindi follows the Karachi Sarafa benchmark; local shop quotes typically sit Rs 100–500 per tola above it depending on making charges and demand.
Raja Bazaar is one of the oldest continuously trading gold markets in northern Punjab, and its Sarafa and Moti Bazaar lanes serve a catchment far wider than the city — Attock, Chakwal, Murree and much of Azad Kashmir buy here.
Because the market is dense and old, competition on making charges is sharp. Rawalpindi is routinely cheaper than Islamabad on the same 22K piece even though both quote the identical Karachi-benchmark metal rate.
It is also a strong buy-back market. Households selling inherited jewellery tend to get closer to the board rate here than in showroom-led markets, because the wholesale buyers are on the same street.
Buying in Rawalpindi
Raja Bazaar is a bargaining market for labour, not for metal. Fix the karat and the weight first, then negotiate making charges — and insist on a receipt stating rate, weight, karat and charges separately.
We do not publish an invented Rawalpindi-only figure. Where a verified local quote is unavailable we show the Karachi benchmark and state the real spread as a range. A city price quoted to two decimal places is a formula, not a market rate.

Raja Bazaar, specifically the Sarafa Bazaar and Moti Bazaar lanes in the old city centre.
The metal rate is the same. Raja Bazaar's older, denser market has lower overheads and more competition, so making charges are lower.
It is one of the stronger buy-back markets in northern Punjab because wholesale buyers trade in the same lanes. Take more than one quote before selling.
The local association publishes the rate, but it follows the Karachi Sarafa benchmark rather than setting an independent price.
