916 is the hallmark for 22K gold: 91.6% pure, a factor of 0.9167 against 24K. On 9 August 2026 that makes a tola of 22K Rs 421,100 against Rs 459,400 for 24K.
How do I convert karat to purity?
Divide the karat by 24. 22 ÷ 24 = 0.9167, 21 ÷ 24 = 0.875, 18 ÷ 24 = 0.750. Multiply the 24K rate by that factor for the metal value.
How much will a jeweller pay for my old gold?
The pure metal content at the board rate, less a deduction of roughly 5–15% for refining loss and margin. Making charges from the original purchase are not recovered.
